Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Steam Deck OLED doesn't look like a good buy.

It actually gets less FPS than the regular steam deck according to the Tom's Hardware article above.

I might have paid more for a new system that was a generational leap ahead of the Steam Deck.

Other sites have reported the opposite.

I'm interested when Valve decides to release a true 60fps gaming device instead of a 30-45fps device.

Try checking out a site that does legit benchmarks. The OLED is faster in every scenario according to DF. https://youtu.be/Z1KLj06fn2s

Wait 3 years. LPDDR6. I believe Valve is waiting for a new RAM generation. OLED deck is only a mid console refresh. Not meant to increase performance.

Other outlets have reported the exact opposite. I'm getting 60fps in tons of games and even 80-90 on slightly older titles.

most reviews are reporting slightly better peformance on the OLED

also watch this video explaining why OLED runs worse on smaller tdps compared to LCD

Well 3.5 has dropped the performance of my LCD deck so it might be that. I've had to bump all the TDPs up by a point or two for the games I have configured to use it otherwise they crackle and lag, and in some cased i've had to turn the TDP off completely to get a similar performance to when it was on 6 watts for instance. It might be some Oleds out in the wild are suffering from this problem too perhaps?

Interestingly Tom's Hardware's claimed 2-3 FPS decrease is consistent with pretty much every single other site's reported increase. I wonder if some intern got those numbers flip flopped or something.

It also doesnt connect to the internet, my LE arrived at 4PM and I've been stuck at intro for an hour and a half

Tom's Hardware is very reputable. Maybe they are unknowingly victims of the 200-1040 mhz bug. It would explain the odd negative performance.

Ok then don't buy one.
