Mic not working in new update
After updating to 3.5.5 my external and internal mic will not pick up anything. Anyone else having this issue?

Same problem here. Latest update has made internal mics unusuable through the 3.5mm jack

Same problem. It's strange that though mic isn't working on desktop mode (test with Firefox), but it do works on steam voice chat.
Didn't work on Discord either.

Keep on testing, install Sound Recorder from Discover, and it works fine.
But Firefox and Discord still not working.

I found a peculiar solution. I noticed that the Sound Recorder and Steam voice chat function properly. After some testing, it seems that if I start the "mic works fine application" first and then launch the "mic not working application," the microphone continues to function. However, if I start them in the opposite order, none of them work. So, I created a Steam voice chat room with only myself inside and kept it running. This seems to have solved the problem, at least to some extent.

Thanks to chatGPT for saving my poor English.

I can confirm that this works. Created a voice chat with just myself in Steam, then opened Discord and it works. If I leave the Steam Voice chat it stops working in Discord.

Maybe flatpak apps can't properly access the microphone any more?

^this.

Have you guys tried uninstalling discord and then reinstalling its flatpak after the update? The audio drivers have changed with the new kernel in the 3.5.5 update so I suspect your original discord app is trying to instantiate the old driver which no longer exists

I did yes, even deleted all the settings, did not work. However, I just tried the discord-screenrecorder client from the Discovery store and it works flawlessly, so far.

Edit: I had issues with the regular Discord client on Steam Deck in the past as well.

Oh I might have misunderstood what you're doing. You are trying to use discord via the browser?

Do you have the same issue if you install Chrome through Discover and then load discord via that?

No no, I was using the Discord flatpak client. That is where the problem is. The Discord web app in Brave browser (flatpak) also works fine. So it's definitely the Discord flatpak. I tried to copy all the settings and permissions from discord-screenrecorder to Discord using flatseal, but it didn't work either.

Tried on discord and Firefox, the mic didn't work.
I think it's a wider problem than just discord:-/
This worked for me! Get the app called Flatseal from the discover store. It lets you change what stuff is accessible to apps downloaded via flatpak (aka the discover store, sorta). Find discord (or vesktop or whatever) and toggle stuff related to mics / devices / peripherals and keep the mic check thing running in discord. Eventually if you hear your voice echoed back from discord you toggled something that got
its permissions dropped in an update (that's my guess, at least!)
