Out of Stock - Unacceptable Behavior From Valve
I had the limited edition in my cart at 1:00 PM EST exactly.

I then spent 24 minutes fighting with the system to try to get through, and now it's out of stock and won't let me purchase.

This is not an acceptable way to do business with customers. There should have been a queue, and people should have got them in the order they came. This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane. It's not okay to treat customers like this.

Agreed, not sure what happened here, going by the polls done only 50% of current Steam Deck owners expressed interest in upgrading to the OLED so this cannot be organic demand, it's most definitely bots / scalpers. I did manage to get through and purchase a 512GB version but like you it took 20 minutes of diligently refreshing the purchase page / clicking the purchase button over and over again. I feel lucky I wasn't treated to "it's out of stock" after all of that.

I just let me buy it once i took it out of the cart and readded it it no longer says out of stock

I thought of that, but I hate to reward a company for a poor purchasing system, especially if unable to purchase.

Wouldn't change anything anyway, the transaction system can fail at any step including using internal payments with credits.

They treated me alright 👍 go snag on 1Tb OLED

Now I'm getting 'you have another pending transaction preventing me from purchasing anything at all...'

Update - they are clearing errors and opening it back up - just got through the store no problem
