Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Used Steam Decks more Expensive?
I am new to steam decks, I have never owned one and don’t know much about them.

I am thinking of purchasing one, and as part of my research, I have found that used Steam Decks on EBay seem to be selling at a higher price than what steam is selling new ones for.

This is something I don’t understand and I feel like I am missing something here. Why would the price on EBay be higher that what I can get from Steam directly?

Are the ones sold on EBay somehow better?

Postage and packing fees, E Bay fees, good old fashioned greed.

No they are not any better or faster. I recommend getting new on Steam.

Totally agree with the above. Plus if you’re getting the standard deck you’ll notice they are phasing them out so the prices are even lower than usual right now. eBay is all private sellers jacking the price up on a popular item!

steam deck is awful. quit working after a year and steam wants 300 to fix it. DO NOT BUY

@LilWooski plz speak for yourself!! All my other consoles are jealous of my Steam Deck. Got it when they first became available and it has been one of the BEST purchases of my life. Looking at the OLED next lol ….

They're hoping to sell them to places that don't have Decks officially available to them.

Interesting. I usually see used decks selling for a fraction of the price in stores like ebay, compared to steam.

Are you looking at used or for parts listings?

eBay is a website used by primarily scammers. eBay generally should be avoided for all purchases except for extremely rare one of a kind items. Any normal item should be bought literally anywhere else, as eBay is a massively toxic marketplace where everything is marked up substantially in the hope of getting a sucker to over pay for a cheap or used item.

♥♥♥♥ eBay never use it ever.

Scalpers basically.

They bought up all the early stock, hoping to make a quick profit by reselling them above cost. Then steam increased their own stock, and the scalpers are stuck holding their losses. They are desperate to recoup their costs, so their are still keeping their asking prices higher than a new one.

And same goes to those who Necro 6 month old threads just to give their take on capitalism.

its also because they arent available in other countries still so scalpers are taking advantage of that. just buy one of the refurb models from valve directly, warranty plus valves return policy make it worth it
