Installing a Native Linux Iso?
I have a ripped copy of a Native linux game, and I finally figured out how to mount the ISO into a drive using a program i got from the discovery store.
[

Problem is i don't know how to actually install the game? I read that the .sh file is the thing that I need to run but that doesn't do anything. Any of the commands that i use to try and make it open just gives me a big ol error message or does nothing at all.

I tried to just extract the contents of the iso to the desktop, right click the .sh file, make it executable, then i tried to execute it but it just...literally does nothing. Is it possible to install native linux games or is it because the game, being as old as it is (Simcity 3000) just doesn't run on new linux distros like old 16-bit windows games don't work on new windows? just so confused

Google "Sim City 3000 linux install from disc"

It's going to make you run an install command from terminal, then just like with those old windows games, you'll likely have to jump through some hoops due to compatibility and it being so old.

i tried to run some of those commands and would also get and access denied error, even if i used the sudo command?

Search the internet and hope for the best.

the .sh file

Can you share this file contents? That way we'll see what it tries to do.

Also, it would be useful if you posted a listing of that ISO files and folders. You said you extracted it, so you can then go to that place in terminal/console, run tree command there, and post the output to some pastebin.

Start here[community.simtropolis.com]

You will need to install some libraries (the Loki compatibility libraries) which will require you to take the Steam Deck filesystems out of read-only / immutable mode; and you'll need to set an environment path variable which...

Honestly, would be much less cumbersome to get the Windows SimCity 3000 Unlimited version DRM free on GOG and use the Heroic Games Launcher...

forget the original installer, you should only install software thru a package manager nowadays, it's an archaic way that won't work on deck anyways.

you have this, right? https://archive.org/details/sim-city-3000-unlimited

Ironically, it's a lot easier to install old Windows software into the deck than old linux software. Buy the windows version thru GOG and run it thru Heroic games launcher, or download a windows iso and run it thru Bottles.
