Factory reset issue

I just bought a steam deck OLED on Facebook marketplace and I’m trying to do a factory reset but keep getting this error message. "An error occurred when downloading the disk image to re-install steam OS. Check your internet connection ans try again"

I am connected to the Internet. I have a macbook pro. How do I troubleshoot this? Is there a way to download steamOS on my macbook, transfer it to a USB drive and factory reset the deck which docked or something? Help please.....
