Horipad for steam (steam controller) releasing worldwide next year
It seems like the new steam controller from hori will be releasing outside of Japan early next year. Will you be getting it? It's been getting mixed reviews, but I'm actually rather excited to be getting an officially licensed steam controller. :lunar2019piginablanket:

No haptic feedback -> I'm not terribly interested.

I'm going to do some insane stuff with steam input

Hori used to be a player 2 controller. With a drop in price, maybe

It is definitely a bit pricey

It is pretty much the exact same thing as the Horipad+ for Nintendo Switch; but with a Steam logo button.

Except it and all its features are fully compatible with steam input. Very few controllers are.

I'm kind of glad I didn't pull the trigger on the Horipad. My Xbox Series X controller is doing well still, and all these leaks for a proper Steam Controller 2 with touchpads indicates we're looking at a soon-ish release.

not the fan of the xbox layout of joysticks / dpad. might be interested in the steam controller 2 though

Yeah, I love the PS layout. My primary weapon is the stadia controller. It's weird that a steam controller would have the wrong layout

I don't think you understand Steam Input.

One of the benefits of Steam Input is that when it’s implemented in a game, players can use any one of over 300 supported controllers to play. We also recently added support for the new HORIPAD for Steam (available in Japan later this summer), and worked with HORI's team to make their controller work well with Steam Input.

Okay smart*ss, please tell me this; if a controller has extra buttons, can I then remap those with steam input, no matter what controller it is? Or is it only a select few that valve has added support for?

Yep, as long as they are actually presented to the host as a separate button. That is the issue with the Microsoft Xbox Elite 2 Controller and it's back buttons; they are mapped in-firmware to duplicate the face buttons (after a firmware update). Otherwise yes if they are presented to the host as individual buttons or axis then you can. E.g. I do so on my KK3M.
so does anyone know of an english instruction manual? while hori says its for pc(win) , you also have to download (not available now) the hori controller app from win store in order to use said controller (havent tried recently since i got it), so i just used it for dock since i cant even figure out how to get the bluetooth to show up on deck, first try weeks ago and deck only saw the controller as generic x, today was going to use controller plugged in to dock and after a reset with deck, it now show up as hori steam controller, checked a few games and deck shows all the same buttons u can remap under controller icon so it seems ok, but still looking for english instruction manual for some more details explainations and how to get deck and said official hori controller to bluetooth
