D-pad is awful
I have dedicated retro gaming handhelds that have some of the best D-pads I’ve ever used. I moved some of my retro games over to the deck and play them off retroarch, and the D-pad on the deck is just bad. The corners are unreliable and make any game that relies on them harder to enjoy.

I’ve had the deck for 2 years and never used the D-pad outside of a scrolling. Now that I use it more, it makes me really appreciate that D-pads on other handhelds.

The worst D pad I’ve ever used was on the lenovo legion go. It’s entirely too large and uses click switches instead of membrane.

It's way too rigid.

I found the d-pad on the Deck LCD usable enough. I'm no Street Fighter pro or anything though, so maybe I just wasn't putting it through it's paces like some real d-pad aficionados might.

The OLED d-pad feels a little better, not that I thought the LCD d-pad was bad. I do have Marvel vs Capcom 3 installed, and I feel like I'm able to pull off those quarter-circle and half-circle d-pad moves a bit more reliably.
