Docked Steam Deck with Controller - need Mouse
Hi together,

I hope someone could help me, because I googled for hours and can’t find a solution.

My steam deck is docked and via bluetooth connected to a Xbox controller.
In my game, I need a mouse now and I know, I will get it with the shortcut pressing steam-Button plus right stick. This would work fine, if I would play in handheld mode.

While playing docked, I see the mousecursor and can move it around, but at the same time, I disconnect my controller, because it is the same button and I make a screenshot.

Can someone help me and tell me, if I can change the controller layout so pressing the left stick will activate the mousecursor? I can only find a way to bring the mousecursor in a special position, but not moving around :-/ and I can’t change „use pressing left stick as steam-button“ because I can’t change the steambuttonlayout.

Can you understand what I mean? (As you would already know, my English is not the best, so it is harder to describe for me)

Any ideas?? Many thanks in Advanced

Create a new action layer
Within that action layer change whichever stick you want to control the mouse cursor to "As Mouse"

Bind left stick click to "hold action layer" and point it to that new action layer.

Thank you so much.. I couldn’t solve it yet, because I never used the action layers and for me they are not easy, but I see, that you give me the right answer. I just have to learn how to understand and do it. I managed it to have the mousecursor and could move it. But I couldn’t click on something, so I think I also have to say which is the left mousebutton. But this must be one, that I use in other parts of the game for something different. And also I just want to have the mousecursor after pressing the left stick and when I press is again, it should disappear and be normal again.

I understand that this seems to be doable.. I hope I will figure it out. Thanks again for your help :)

I recommend setting the joystick click as a Release Press to apply the layer. Then in the layer, have a joystick click Release Press to remove the layer.

Within the layer, open the settings for the trigger. Turn Analog Output off. Then set the command for the trigger to left mouse click.

It sound so easy and understandable how you describe it. Thanks. Maybe it is the language barrier.. I still have problems to follow this :( watching YouTube videos the whole time now to understand it. I thinks it is easy once you get it… but I am not there yet.
