Looking for an external hard drive

Can anyone recommend an external hard drive? The 250 gigs on the Steam Deck didn’t go as far as my Xbox 360.

I'd recommend getting a micro sd card of at least 512 gigabytes. They're a great value and can be had for 20-30 bucks.

I’ve been using this one for well over a year, it’s much faster than a micro sd card.

it's great value if you intend on replacing it thru warranty every time it dies. don't complain about "steam deck breaking cards" if you put manufactured ewaste into it.

I bought USB 3.1 to SATA adapter for my Dock.
With this adapter I can use any, from old HDD to new SSD for my backup.

There is also USB C to SATA version if there is need for straight connection to Deck.

I'm using a bone-standard Western Digital portable external hard disk drive with a capacity of 4Tb plugged into my Steam Deck Dock. Between Steam and non-Steam offerings, I've currently got around 500 titles installed.

Here's my question I have a external hard drive for my Xbox I'm wondering if it's compatible for my steam deck and I have a SD card in the steam deck already. I'm new to the Steve deck and PC kind of world I've always been on Xbox so I have no idea

you can use it for the steam deck if it's a regular USB disk drive, but you can't use it on both steam deck and xbox at the same time
