Ryujinx Setup

I could not find proper instructions on setting up Ryujinx on Steam Deck so I decided to create some. Well, here goes...


Where do I put my games?

First, enter the Steam Deck's desktop mode.

Create a directory for your Switch games. Put it anywhere you want, I won't judge,


Dude, Where's My Firmware?

Before you can play games, you will need a couple of files. (I must not tell you where to find these files lest I invoke the wrath of a thousand Nintendo lawyers BUT I can tell ypu which files you need and a web search will easily locate them. Isn't technology great?)

Download the latest prod.keys file (Use the latest version you can find, the file should have a name similar to Prodkeys.net-V16.1.0.zip)

Unzip the file you just downloaded to Home/.var/app/org.ryujinx.Ryujinx/config/Ryujinx/system

The folder I just mentioned should now contain prod.keys and title.keys

Download the Nintendo Switch firmware (Be sure to download the copy that has exactly the same version number as the zip file containing prod.keys and title.keys, otherwise all you will get is an error message when you try to install it)

Start Ryujinx.

Click on Tools > Install Firmware > Install a firmware from XCI or ZIP

Select the firmware file you just downloaded. Click on Open.

Ryujinx will ask you if you want to continue. Click Yes

Let the firmware installation finish. When you get a message saying it is done, click OK.


Why are there no games?

But you download...I mean, legally acquired some games y9u already purchased, right? You should unzip them to that folder you created for them.

Tap on Options > Settings

That Game Directories listing looks empty. So, click on Add. Select the folder where you put your games and click on OK.


How Do I Control This Thing?

Now, we need to make sure you can actually play the games.

Still in Settings? Good! Tap on the word Input on the left.

Beside the words Input Device, tap on whatever is selected. Select Steam Virtual Gamepad (0)

Tap on OK at the lower right corner.

Now, return to gaming mode. (There is an icon on the desktop for doing so)

Set the controller type for Ryujinx to Gamepad with Mouse Trackpad

Now, edit the layout. Set the right stick to Joystick Mouse (select the speed that is comfortable for you) and the right stick click or any of the buttons on the back to Left Mouse Click. Set the sensitivity of the right joystick to a comfortable level.


One Last Thing...

Exit those control settings and start Ryujinx.

Tap Options > Start Games in Full screen Mode (that is, unless you like seeing that menu bar at the top of the screen.

To start any of the games you have listed, double click on one of them. The game will load and you can start playing.


Now Ryujinx should be fully functional. Have fun!

my jynx isnt finding thegame at the location. and yes it has the path correctim using steamdeck, emudeck

Hi OP, forgive my ignorance here but I'm new to all this... Your guide is great and I got everything installed, but I'm clearly doing something wrong because I cannot get any of the games to open when i double click on them. The only way i can open them is when i have it docked and I double click with my mouse... Its driving me crazy. Any ideas?

are u using emustation in? ive fixed a few issues myself jsut by hitting the reset button in emu deck

Which is the best version for ryujinx? I've found a few but not sure which one is better. I found the v14 and v16

i think mines 14. sais 111401 at the top of the app anyway. but i also use yuzu and sudachi cuz sometimes one will work and the other one wont.
i use all three on pc anway, not sure if u cna do it on steamdeck

Off-topic, you might want to try a LGBT group to discuss that kind of stuff. This is the Hub for the Valve Steam Deck though.
