Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Using Xreal (or any AR glasses) glasses with a hub and a mouse and keyboard.
I was at a loss in hooking up my AR glasses to my steam deck hub with the ability to use a mouse and keyboard. I was using one of those usb c splitters that allows you to power the Steam Deck while also using the glasses. This plugs into the steam deck and then goes to the hub and glasses. Of course the problem was that the power half of the splitter does not transfer data. so any keyboard or mouse connected to the hub will not be able to communicate to the Steam Deck Hub. The solution is to plug the hub into the Steam Deck as normal and connect the glasses through the HDMI port. I used a SIIG HDMI to USB-C Port 4K 60Hz Converter Adapter and it worked perfectly! This just increased the games I can play on the Steam deck by a lot! My eyes, along with the rest of me are getting older and the Steam Deck Screen is a bit too small for games with a lot of small text, hence I use the Xreal AR glasses which makes the monitor huge and any games with small elements or tiny text very readable. Plus the picture is outstanding. Truly portable gaming is here.

Thank you so much for the review! I've been eyeing the xreal v2 glasses for some time now.

Sad to learn I'll have to get a dock as well but I feel if it's the price of admission it's probably worth it.

Will you only be able to m+kb it, or could you still use the decks controls?

You don't need the official dock. I'm using and off-brand one and it works great. You can still use the deck controls.
