steam deck with single joycon
is it possible to use a single joycon while using steamdeck controller?
i know this sound weird but there are times i lay on bed in sideways

so i wanted my other hand to stay straight downward with the joycon while using the left controller of steam deck. this what i do with my nswitch before (had to sold it for steamdeck)

I dont see why not. i suppose joycons should show up as 2 separate bluetooth devices.

I know exactly how you mean when you describe how you play. I've done the exact same thing. It's almost another "mode" you've got handheld, docked, tabletop and... "In bed" modes.

Edit for actual useful content:
The Deck has fantastic options when it comes to customizing controls schemes, I imagine it's as easy as making a profile and setting it up the way you want it. Not 100% sure you'll get it the way you described, but you should easily be able to set a custom layout.. maybe even a more ideal one than you're asking about. Let us know what you come up with, I'll probably give it a try, if it works well.

Yes, it is (probably).

Don't worry, we all did that.

I have a couple games with "left have only" layouts, it tends to work best in strategy/tactics/turn based/puzzle games, usually map the direction pad to a/b/x/y, start button to the left button, and a couple extra functions to l4 and l5, occasionally I'll use the left track pad for more commands, but for most of the genres above that control layout works wonders. Keeps whatever's snuggling on my right side happy to!
