Steam Deck

Steam Deck

steam os or windows
so the main reason i was excited to get a steam deck was to play titles like r6 mw2 and few other titles such as spider man but people are saying they have no work around for mw2 or r6 but i don't really know if its worth sacrificing steam os for windows and how it will affect warranty if something goes wrong with the software

It will not affect your warranty.

If you really want to play those games with their Windows only anti-cheats, you have to use Windows.

Yeah but steam os doesn't have a amazing multiplayer library or at least with current player base

Valve is still working on the boot loader that will allow dual boot. If you wait till it's released it should be easier to set up.

The bootloader rqlreqdy does that just fine. It's the setup sceipt(s) that need work in that area.

That's, like, your opinion. Since I got my Deck, I've played a bunch of MP games with friends & randoms. Some really fun MP games I play on my other PCs, not carefully hand-selected for the Deck.

I'm not reading the whole thread so forgive me if I'm repeating someone, but the best route is to get a top of the line SD card and install Windows to the SD card. Windows is surprisingly stable off of an SD card and that's what I use to play games that don't work online such as mw2 or dbfz. This route pretty much eliminates any concern you would have when trying to install Windows on the Deck itself. Plus, you can always take the SD card out, or switch between OS by holding power+volume down button when turning on the device. Lastly, the Deck can still see files on a NTFS Windows install, so ROMs and other read-only files can still be accessed from SteamOS.

You've dropped the statement as-is, as a factual claim.

Windows only.
There is 0 reason to stay with Steam OS, cause it sucks.
- Less compatibility with steam OS.
- Worse user experience with steam OS.
- Worse touch controls with steam OS.
- Worse performance with steam OS.

You see I watched that Linus video apparently the controls are a pile of crap.on windows and I will end up dual booting because some game I have heard just run smoother on steam os

How old is that video? It is not relevant at all and to be honest he was completely wrong back then. Everything is better on windows. Good thing is you don't have to rely on biased opinions and popular misconceptions, as you can just try it out yourself. Most people I know have switched from steamos to windows entirely.
