Leaks suggest the black, SteamOS powered device will be using the new Z2G chip, which is lower powered than the Z2 Extreme, but theoretically a bit of a bump up from the current Steam Deck specs. It will feature a 4 core 8 thread Zen3+ CPU, as compared to the Deck's Zen 2 CPU with the same core count. It also has RDNA2 graphics, same as the Deck, but with 12 CU instead of 8 CU.
It does look like it will probably still go the same route as the other less efficient devices though, with a 9-30 watt TDP range, as compared to the Deck's 3-15 watt range.
Undoubtedly the Legion Go S will outperform the Steam Deck, but I'll be curious to see how it measures up at lower wattages. I think when it comes to efficiency, the Deck still has the edge thanks to a chip that can run at lower wattages and hardware designed for the OS, and vice versa.
