Using Cheat Engine

I am running cheat engine while playing a single player game. When I switch to Cheat Engine from the running game, it’s frozen and won’t respond. I’m a noob when it comes to this stuff, and would appreciate a step by step tutorial on how to use Cheat Engine while playing a game. Note: I am not using a trainer, just need to adjust values

Because of it's very nature wine/proton containerizes applications/games in their own little sandbox environments but this also means that getting them to read/write into all the other little sandboxes (ie. other games) can be quite problematic.

Zef, I just updated my last post because of an error on my part. I got everything working as described, but when I switch to Cheat Engine from the game, it’s frozen and won’t do anything

I searched YouTube for any setup or guide videos for Game Conqueror and Steam Deck and can’t find any. Remember my knowledge in installing and operating something unfamiliar is very limited without an in depth guide

go to desktop mode, open the discover app, and type in "game conqueror"
should be the first option, click install.

its not difficult, you just have to be patient and learn how your deck actually works if you want the most out of it.

There is no Game Conqueror that shows up searching in the Discover App. I appreciate you trying to help, but I don’t have the time to “get good” about how to use my Steam Deck. I have stage 3 kidney disease and spend most of my time in a hospital. The only cheat app I know how to use is Cheat Engine. I know it works, because I have seen other people use it. I need someone that has experience using this app only

my bad brother. i made an assumption that it would be there. i forgot that steamOS is immutable and needs special steps. fyi, this will get wiped if you update.

I read the instructions and for me they seem complicated. Thank you for trying to help me. I am still holding out hope that someone can still help me with getting Cheat Engine to work, and why it freezes when I switch to it from a game.

i used plugin that decky loader have, called Memory deck. it work like cheat engine, i currently used on game like stategy, like homeworl series, AoE, and severe game resident evil series just to manipulation like values item, if you seek progam that run capable like cheat engine maybe you can give a shot

If you remember what change you made that was different than what you did before, you might post that here for someone who runs into the same problem and finds your thread.

I used the Anydesk App to connect my PC to my Steam Deck and used it remotely to operate Cheat Engine

do you have a link for a tutorial on how to use the stand alone trainers on the deck? i usually use wemod on windows but its far too complicated on the deck and cheat happens seems better on the deck but some features are paid for and i hate that type of thing
