Desktop mode FPS limiter?
How do i limit FPS in desktop mode? I'm specifically trying to get Civ7 to run in a window @30fps so I can multitask without the game making the fans go full blast and sucking up every cpu cycle because it is trying to hit 90fps.

I would know how to do this in the drivers on windows or i would even try lowering the Hz and let vsync do it, but on SteamOS even the screen refresh rate seems to be locked.

Well mangohud did eventually do it, but piecing together the correct commands reminded me constantly why linux desktop will never really go mainstream.

Anyone trying to accomplish similar the answer is: install the mangohud flatpak from the discover store then add the launch option to the game in Steam:

MANGOHUD_CONFIG="fps_limit=30,no_display" MANGOHUD=1 %command%
