Resetting Steam Deck Every Day

Hello all!

I just got a steam deck for Christmas and I was really excited, but it doesn’t work properly. Every time I try to launch a game, it just loads and loads before crashing out. I’ve sat and gone through all the proton types, but those don’t work either. The only thing I’ve found that works, is factory resetting it every day and it launches immediately without issue. Does anyone know why that might be?

How is this “limited” information? I literally have no more information to give. If I turn on my Steam Deck, launch a game (doesn’t matter the game), and the Steam loading screen is spinning and spinning before crashing and bringing me back to the launch screen, that’s the information. I’ve tried launching the games with every proton compatibility, but each of those fail too. Everything is up to date and it’s fresh out of the box so there’s no rhyme or reason for this to be happening. If you’re just as confused as I am, or think I just happened to get a busted one, just say that?

When you say turn on, is that from powered down or from sleep?

If you reboot the device, and immediately try to start at game, does that work?

Yes, I turn it on from powered down and none of my games will launch. If I factory reset it, the games will immediately launch after.

I also have this issue. When I stop using the Steam Deck, I shut it down, and when I start it up, my games do not launch twice. I have to restart it to be able to launch them. Do you know where the logs are to find the problem?"

I was trying to see if you had a similar problem to the person below. If yours happens from a reboot, then it's different. I would start with a reimage:

You still have the same problem, time to reach out to Valve for a RMA.

Did you configure a "Wake" animation?

No my deck is out of box, no custom start vidéo or plug in. It’s in stable release.
