2TB SSD upgrade - Copper or Aluminum shield?
Just got my Steam Deck and planning on upgrading to 2TB. already got all the parts to include a copper shield that sits on top of the SSD to replace the OEM aluminum foil shield.

I read that the OEM foil also aids in shielding the wifi adapter's signal that the SSD sits in top of.

Whats the consensus on using the copper shield after upgrading to a bigger SSD of just reusing the OEM foil?

Thanks

You just got your steam deck? New, from Valve?
You might have a newer revision then. The newer revision decks don't have the issue with the SSD blocking the wifi signal like the older revision decks do.

Yes, NEW from Valve. I went ahead and opened it. It has the aluminum cover over the heat sink and SSD, but a square fan. The ifixit videos mentioned newer versions had a black cover instead of aluminum and older versions had a rounded corner fan, so I'm not sure if my unit is the NEWER revision. The aluminum foil just slipped off the OEM SSD, so I just put it back onto the 2TB SSD. also noticed some type of covering between the SSD and the wifi component under it, so maybe thats Valve's fix.

I reimaged and reinstalled my games and charged it overnight. everything looks successful. lets see how it goes.
