Dota 2 - "Enable Experimental Controller Support" missing?
Finally got my Steam Deck today and was excited to try some Dota on it using the official Valve configuration they added semi-recently - seen here: https://www.dota2.com/controllerfaq

However, the setting they describe as "Enable Experimental Controller Support" is simply missing from the settings. I'm not seeing it on desktop either, so I'm not sure what's going on.

How Do I Enable Experimental Controller Support?
By default the new experimental controller support is disabled. To enable it in settings, navigate to Options / Advanced Options, and click the "Enable experimental controller support" toggle at the bottom of the miscellaneous section. You'll also need to make sure Steam Input is enabled for your controller in Steam (Check Steam / Settings / Controller / General Controller Settings). Finally, you'll want to configure Dota to use a Gamepad controller configuration. (Right click on Dota in the Steam Library, Manage / Controller Configuration )

do all those steps and it should show up. was easy to find in the linked page you sent. works for everyone else.

That'd be great, except I followed every single one of those steps and it's still not showing up, hence why I posted this to begin with. "Works for everyone else" is an interesting thing to say for someone that literally doesn't have Dota on his account.

Yeah, I'm basically in the same boat as you are. I was able to force controller support on by using the console commands cl_steamcontroller 1 and dota_use_controller 1, but the main menu is basically unusable even with these on. I can only assume the option was removed quietly while they work on it. Thanks for the assistance regardless, hopefully someone at Valve sees this and flips the switch back on.

Thanks for posting this, Kilroy! Glad I wasn’t the only one. I hope they turn it back on, too.
Confirming that the feature is still not to be found, Just got my Steam Deck and was ready for this only to be met with sadness. Funny that they took it off the latest build yet still have this page up:

... Did they just kill this console command today with the new update? I can't get it to work anymore. :steamsad:

Yep, can confirm that dota_use_controller is gone. Guess that settles that. Thanks, Valve.

I'm facing a similar issue and made a github issue for it: https://github.com/jeffhill/Dota2/issues/1034

Thanks! In the meantime, I uploaded a Switch Pro config that I think works really well. Should work fine with PS and Steam controllers.

JeffHill acknowledged this is a bug and will be returning feedback once they've looked into it. https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/vaq2fa/valve_has_fully_removed_experimental_controller/ic439tr/?context=3

Hotfix brought it back! See above Reddit post for details.

Kind of a cool feeling seeing Valve indirectly respond to my post.
