Steam Deck

Most games won't play on the deck
I only have 7 of my 70+ games available to play. And the other games, either kick me out or fail to launch because their anti-cheat system lights up because of the Deck. If I could just get into the game, I could assign buttons or just use my Bluetooth mouse and keyboard I bought for my Deck. I especially wanna play Conquerors blade and The Isle. I just hope Way of the Hunter works at this point. I waited over a year just to have a $700 Valheim dedicated handheld?? Cause of anti-cheat hitting the deck.

I know how you feel. I recently spent my life savings on a ferrari, but it turns out it's limited to roads? I spent all this money and I can't even go cross country! Not to mention, it turns out that 2/3 of the planet is water, which the ferrari apparently won't even drive on? It's pretty disappointing. Makes me wonder if I should have checked the compatibility of what I was buying with the things I intended to do with it.
I mean... you could just look at the games you owned and see which ones are verified before you purchased the Deck...
Even if you didn't see the store page of your games, you could visit ProtonDB and see that for games such as Conqueror's Blade, the game runs, just considerably bad in both windows and linux. And for The Isle... well... the game's not verified and it has EAC, which is working on linux IF the dev wants it to.
You're spending 700$ on a console and you don't even do some research first? That's 100% on you mate. It's like buying a PS5 and complaining because you can't play Halo or Zelda on it.

I spitted coke through my nose after reading this reply. Thanks a lot.

Apologies for any mess caused as a result.
You spend $ 700 on a SD and have 70 games only? Bro ? Why to invest in Valve device if your game collection is so small?
Not sure if you are aware of this but here you go anyway.
https://www.protondb.com/ read up on the deck reports and see what games you can get to work.
Yeah they don't all work out of the box or at all. Especially those with anti cheat.
Oh and best not try to bypass any anti cheat in desperation. There is a possibility of being banned permanently.

Looks like the two main titles you named use EAC. Sadly, apparently there is a Linux library for it "if" the developers update their title. In the short term, using the Deck for multiplayer titles is going to be hit or miss.

Take it up with the crappy developers who can't figure out how to tick a checkbox and copy/paste a file. :berserk:

Yeah, barely any games but never mind the number, he mainly has online mp games. Most likely FPSes. Wouldn't you rather play that on desktop with a high refresh rate monitor? Why is this dude buying a $700~ machine with gamepad controls and 60fps limit to play online mp games? OP, you dun goofed.

Because he can and wanted to?

But if mp games on the SD is what you're after then Windows is probably the better option. Probably need to learn to tinker and install windows. Warning there is no official support. Most things will be google and most people on here that are "linux the best" will not help you.

24 games owned

Valve even made it super easy to see which of your 24 games on your Steam account are Deck Verified, Playable, or Unsupported

https://store.steampowered.com/steamdeck/mygames

And as others have noted you can check ProtonDB for other games to see if there are any known workarounds or limitations, such as unsupported anti-cheat. Valve is continuing to work with Epic to enable EAC to function on SteamOS to allow developers to update the version of EAC they are using to support Proton but that is up to Epic and the games developers to implement within their games.

I'm curious as why you wouldn't post using the account with your 70 games instead of this account that only has 24 games on, you trying to hide something??

I would look at protondb and see if there are ways you can make your games work. Or if there are verified games you're interested in playing, maybe you can get those in the future. There are lots of verified titles you can get. Or play Valheim.

Or if you really want to play the other games that won't run... I guess you could install Windows, though that may come with its own share of problems. There is for example no official support for Windows on the deck. Think you can put Windows on an SD card and run from that, in which case you don't have to worry about messing up the deck... I think. Don't take my word on it, though. But it might be a safer way to just try it out before committing.

I generally don't suggest that to people, btw. I am firmly in the Linux camp, and my deck runs Steam OS. But since you have so many games with anti-cheat and if you aren't satisfied with the games you can play, then Windows is a legit option, even if I personally don't like it. Your deck, your choice.

Why does game collection size matter? Mine isn't that big (maybe 100 games more then OP), but I still enjoy my deck.

Yeah I'm angry af, too.

I spent so much moneis on games I intended to play on my PC.
And then they drop the Deck. Why didn't they tell me that in 2003 already?

My disappointment is unmeasurable and my day is ruined!

Not sure what you mean by this. It is obvious that the more games you accumulated before purchasing your Deck more would be tested and verified. Steam passed 4,500 verified title by now. This is way more than any console out there so OP is delusional here.
