How do you keep 2 programs active (like game + discord)
On the pc I would use alt + tab or the windows key to exit the game and go to the discord screen. ...how do you do that on the steam deck?

You can try desktop mode but you really can't in game mode. It wasn't designed for that.

Ah, that's sad. ^^ I somehow hoped to be able to use discord while playing online.

Thanks for the reply.

You should have no problems gaming in desktop mode. It is just a different process for starting up the games.

You can if you open discord before or after starting your game. It'll just sit at the top of the Steam Menu list beside where the game sits, then you can switch into it no problem. I think you need to turn off hardware acceleration in it though.

I have had Google Chrome and my game opened up at the same time and used the Steam menu to navigate between the two. Chrome is added to my non Steam library list. If you added Discord to the non Steam game list then it will allow you to navigate between the two programs.

Works better in desktop doing that I'm afraid. Running it in background in gaming mode, it will freeze up and crash eventually. Discord needs to optimize or make themselves available on steam.

You might be able to use steam chat in gaming mode, it has some features similar to discord, at least for chat related things.

Thx. I will try a bit. I am already part of a gaming community and we often use discord while playing. That's why I hoped to be able to continue this on the steam deck.

Since I can add any non steam programm to the steam library, it is just about the possibility to run 2 steam games from game mode ar the same time.
