Proton 9 install corrupt
I just encountered this issue and it's making all of my installed games unplayable.

I had a bunch of updates so I went down the list adding them to update so they're queued. For some reason "Proton 9.0" will not update and says the install file is corrupt. I have tried verifying files on it, tried to delete it and nothing will get this to download.

I gave up and tried to play a game and it says the game is corrupted. This happens on all the games now

First, the reason it's messing up your game is that with a recent update, all games default to Proton 9 if a specific Proton version is not predefined. You can change this in the Developer Menu of the Steam Deck Settings.

Next, try this for Proton 9 error. Try searching for "Sniper" in the search bar at the top.
Then go to Steam Linux Runtime 3.0 (sniper) -> Properties -> Installed Files -> Verify integrity of tool files

This may get Proton 9 to update and fix itself.

Thanks for responding dude. I tried verifying files but it claimed it was fine. What I ended up doing that worked for me (in case anyone else has this problem) is switching to desktop mode and finding the Proton 9 folder and deleting it. Then verifying files fails and everything is reacquired. Not sure why it wouldn't fix the corrupt file until I deleted the folder, but that's what worked.

I'm good now but want to leave this up in case someone else also has issues with a proton update corrupting.
1. Desktop
2. Delete
3. Verify

In desktop mode I used the search function in the file explorer and searched for "Proton" and found 9
