Two Questions About the Heroic Launcher
I got my Steam Deck on Friday, and was eagerly looking forward to playing some of my non-Steam games through the Heroic Launcher.

While I successfully installed the launcher, got it to recognize my Micro SD card, and installed a bunch of games from both the Epic Store and GOG Galaxy, I couldn't actually get any of those 3rd-party games to run.

Question #1 - How do you get a non-Steam game to play through the Heroic Launcher?

Question #2 - Once you install a game through the Heroic Launcher, how do you remove it?

The closest I got to being able to actually play a game was with LEGO Star Wars-The Complete Saga, which I have through GOG. The game starts, but the graphics are messed up - Kind of inverted color space wise, and not legible. But I do hear sound.

With some games - I would hit the "Play" button, the screen would go black, but then I would be returned to the launch screen.

Any help would be appreciated.

Now, don't quote me on this, because I might be wrong but... Shouldn't you add them to steam as non steam games so you can run them through the Proton compatibility layer?

You can do both. Removing can be done too. I also have herioc added as a non steam game so I can launch games that way without switching to desktop mode.

im using linux to play via proton, and afaik that would never work as you expect (or what i thik you expect, which is using steam to launch heroic, and then be able to use heroic to launch any game with proton):

when you add a program as a "non-steam game", you are only allowing steam to try to launch the exe you linked directly, which means steam settings for the controller and launching settings will only work with that file. also the steam client wont offer you options to tweak easily graphical settings.

that means you shouldnt try to link heroic launcher with steam, but the actual exe of the game you downloaded using the launcher.

since heroic does a poor job at managing games, you should also avoid it for that since lutris can do more, and will allow you to actually try different settings (also with all versions of proton you have downloaded and unpacked).

I went into the Desktop Mode, and added my games by selecting "Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library" and I selected the .exe file for each of the games I wanted to add. I then went into Settings-->Compatibility and checked the box on "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool.

I tried every version of Proton for both Lego Star Wars-The Complete Saga and for Alan Wake. Lego Star Wars displayed as garbled, but only under Proton 7.0. Alan Wake wouldn't run, no matter which version of Proton I tried.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (a game from Epic) said that it needed a 3rd party program in order to be able to run, and the game couldn't find that program.

According to the Proton website, LEGO Star Wars-TCS works great - But requires tweaks.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Heroic launcher offers you to install different Wine and Wine-Proton-GE versions just like Lutris. You just need to configure it properly (i.e. enabling DXVK and other options).
