Steam deck built in controller stopped working in CEMU after I upgraded to 3.6.19
It was working fine earlier in both game and desktop mode, but I upgraded to 3.6.19 and my controls stopped working in CEMU in both game and desktop mode.

I saw some people who had trouble with the upgrade and switch to beta channel and that solved their issue, that did nothing for me.

Then I saw somewhere that you can rollback to a previous version of SteamOS (3.5.19) and I did that. It fixed my issue easily. Just sharing what worked for me in case somebody had the same issue as me or somebody having trouble with 3.6.19 can try it, no promises though.

Really stupid question, but…. Emudeck seems too dumbed down to even “switch to CEMU native version.” I have both versions installed and updated, but I’m unsure of how to make sure the native one is being run in game mode. There don’t seem to be any options within Emudeck to do this. Thanks for any input!

Edit: Figured it out. For anyone else who uses Steam ROM Manager; in desktop mode just open up the Steam ROM Manager, add your Wii U games using the CEMU - Native parser, and voila. Then, in Steam in desktop mode, just delete your old CEMU - Proton collection if you no longer want to use that. Cheers.

Reverting to older os version did not fix it for me. This is depressing lol. Anyone know a fix? I also have no idea how to uninstall and reinstall cemu as when I boot up emudeck it just tried to install everything again

Open Cemu directly on Desk Mode works, but not from Steam, that means I can't open any Cemu game from Game Mode. :Hearthian_Cry:

Edit: if you are like me, that didn't touck Emudeck in a while, open it and reinstall Cemu (appImage verdion will appear as a new app installed). Use that version when you select a game (if you use ROM Manager, you can choose only add the non proton versions directly)

I had same issue.

SteamOS 3.6.20
Emudeck with very old Cemu (via proton). Because once I lost my saves when updating.

So I solved the controller issue this way:
- saved my game saves 🙂
- update emudeck. So Cemu. And the version is now the appimage
- I kept the default settings
- controllers didn't work on desktop mode
- but it did on game mode
- About the performances issues. It was due to graphic pack hacks. All you need to do is to re-enble everything that you used before.

Graphic pack for performances :
- from desktop mode
- run the Cemu of emudeck (icon should be on the desktop)
- "Options' from the top menu
- then "Graphic packs"
- "Download lasted community packs"

Then depending of your game you have some hack to enable.

For BOTW :
- tick "workaround"
- workaround > CPU specific -> choose everything that is Vulkan
- tick "graphics"
- Mods > FPS++

Seems like 3.6.20 fixed it on my side. However performance degraded a lot. I cannot play Wind Waker HD at stable 30 (terrible frametimes and stuttering) when It was running sooo smooth before. Any idea? Thanks

Why are you smoothbrains still using the Cemu proton version? (the one with the controller issue)

Native linux appversion is actually more performant now in majority popular titles (and comes default now with emudeck install).

Switch over to native and dump the proton version.

Just wanted to say thanks. This inspired me to get this working. It took a few tries because it was all set up by Emudeck. Once I got the native app image set up with emu deck and added to Steam properly the controller worked...mostly fine. It was a few weeks ago but I think I may have had to launch cemu directly game mode to get the controller set to the correct virtual input.
I wanted to seamlessly swap between the steam deck and xbox controller but for some reason the default was set to the steam deck controls only.
I know a few people have mentioned performance issues but I haven't seen the same problems mentioned after enabling the same graphics packs as before like FPS++/

Nvm. Hold the three dots and power it on. Reverting fixed it. Thanks so much for this!
Hey I'm NOW having the same issue how did you fix this may I ask? Please help if you can🙏.

I Found a fix? I don't know if it is a fix, maybe a workaround. Simply open Cemu from gaming mode.
Just update CEMU to the lastest version, I had the same problem and it was fixing by updating emudeck and CEMU.

It seems that the old versions of Emudeck used a non native version of CEMU.
