Steam deck built in controller stopped working in CEMU after I upgraded to 3.6.19
It was working fine earlier in both game and desktop mode, but I upgraded to 3.6.19 and my controls stopped working in CEMU in both game and desktop mode.

I saw some people who had trouble with the upgrade and switch to beta channel and that solved their issue, that did nothing for me.

Then I saw somewhere that you can rollback to a previous version of SteamOS (3.5.19) and I did that. It fixed my issue easily. Just sharing what worked for me in case somebody had the same issue as me or somebody having trouble with 3.6.19 can try it, no promises though.

Hey man, I'm having this exact issue. Driving me mad. How do you roll back the update?

Nvm. Hold the three dots and power it on. Reverting fixed it. Thanks so much for this!

I have the same issue :( Did anyone find any workaround (other than going back to a previous version) ? I guess I’ll never be able to finish The Wind Waker…

Doesn't seem to be a workaround for now. I've also disabled wifi to keep it from updating. I guess I will file this in the big report section.

I had this same issue. If anyone knows how to reorder controllers without an external controller that would streamline this workaround a lot.

It's a bit of a workaround but if you connect a second controller and then reorder the controllers where the Steam Deck is controller 3 it works like normal. Sometimes it needs to be controller 2 or 4 for whatever reason. You can disconnect the controller once controls are working. I have seen where reorder controllers is still available after exiting cemu but generally you will have to repeat this process to get it working again.

Before the update controller 1 would always be the main controller for cemu and I would just switch that when I'd play with an external controller. haven't been able to get it to work after the update.

It works on Desktop Mode if you lunch CEMU directly from the OS, if you launch from Steam it still broken

Seems like 3.6.20 fixed it on my side. However performance degraded a lot. I cannot play Wind Waker HD at stable 30 (terrible frametimes and stuttering) when It was running sooo smooth before. Any idea? Thanks

Why are you smoothbrains still using the Cemu proton version? (the one with the controller issue)

Native linux appversion is actually more performant now in majority popular titles (and comes default now with emudeck install).

Switch over to native and dump the proton version.

I am using the native AppImage. Same performance issues...

I was one of the smothbrains, I just never realized there was an appversion, since I installed emudeck a really long time ago, and never updated it, just have been updating the individual emulators.

So, can confirm that after changing to the native cemu version, the button works, but now I have to spend a long time fixing my steam library because the new rom parser messed up everything, that that is fine.

Thanks,

I'm great greatful for this post. Had same issue as above. Controls would only work in desktop but was buggy. Downloaded native thru emudeck and now works fine.
