I really cant understand how they can update their own hardware, it breaks and then dont see they came with faulty software."
Because it didn't update your hardware.
They didn't tell you to kick rocks.
They didn't break your software with an update.
How did they not break it? Honestly, i dont know. Because i did not do anything but update the deck and it broke. But ok, i dont know it there is something un the UELA that say its my fault if one of their update break the deck.
They will not help because its out of warranty, and yes they did not say kick rocks. I said they virtually said kick rocks. This is their answer:
I do not demand a new deck or anything, but if they at least said they would look in to a fix or anything, i would had taken that. my post was most of all a warning to people how think of updating. For some people this device is the only gaming device they can afford, so it would be devastating for them.
So now I've got a nice pretty 512GB OLED brick...
*EDIT* Got into "recovery mode" (three dots + power button), selected "Previous State B + Boot Menu", selected "Advanced options for SteamOS, and selected "fallback" variant of the two SteamOS to select from,
Booted into where the previous recovery installation left off, and for whatever reasons, this time, the installation and update process went through and finally brought up the sign-in steam page! Can't tell if Steam finally fixed the update itself or something on the server-side to allow the update to actually install properly...
Honestly, what a headache this has been, would really think twice before buying steam hardware in future,
Thank you so much. I have tried everything except the BIOS, doing it now. Will reporter back if that did the trick;)
Update:
Wow it seemed to do the trick. Had to disable steam updating the bios again. So I'm on the 121 version instead now. Thank you so much:)
The aggravating part is the Support asking 200 Euros for doing that.
Have Valve an Ombudsman? I think it's time to file a complain.
The "support" doesn't know anything and has to read a script and then they just say send it in. It's really sad how people bend over backwards for Valve and I feel like I will get jumped if I dare say that the Deck isn't perfect.
Being this the precise reason a complain should be filed to the ombudsman. Their support is scamming the customers
And yes, it's 100% this particular BIOS that does black screen on boot. I've tried to use it three times now, and 3/3 it just renders my Deck nearly unusable. Once I roll back it's like a miracle and Deck just works as it should.
edit: oh, I see you already rolled back and it's working. This BIOS should be banned from distributing.
My deck was one of the first out and it's still working fine with both the latest OS and BIOS.
I'll answer any questions you have about it but really, I think there may be something else going on here.
I KNOW vALVE can't update anything without causing regressions or a whole new slew of issues. Sometimes both. My wife coined the phrase "vALVEs (♥♥♥♥)updates"...
But I think it might be beneficial to look in other directions.
