Not sure on the prices in your area. I would only by directly from the manufacturer to make sure you don't accidentally get a fake. That being said, it you look at the stats, the Extreme has faster speed all around.
Or if you plan on using a SteamOS-like distro like Bazzite.
The Ally's worst caveats are its short battery life (about 2 hours in the best case scenarios), the fact that it WILL kill its own SD card reader and whatever card you have installed (design flaw, not fixable with a software update), and the fact that Windows 11 is both functionally malware and a step backwards from 10 as a handheld OS (10 wasn't really a good OS for handhelds either)
If you think that's worth upgrading for, go for it. If not, I'd save that money for a potential Deck 2 in a few years.
For me yes. I like having double the performance and windows is just easier for things. I can run games much easier that the deck struggles with. I will link a gameplay video at the bottom
Get the extreme. The main reason is because it has triple the write speed and this translates into faster downloading and installing games. It will not boot the game up faster as it’s capped to 100mb just like the ultra.
Steam OS updates do all that for you. It’s a very pick up and play system. While windows handhelds also have direct drivers from the dashboards you access.
I prefer handheld pcs for sheer convenience. They may not have the same power as box pcs but they offer a great alternative.
Deck vs ROG vs Legion go
It’s really up to you. They all offer something different

Bro, please. Win11 runs flawlessly on my lenovo legion go. It literally smokes steam OS in every aspect. Some tweaking to the OS makes it so much better than steam OS.
The SD card issue is fixed on newer units. No need to pass on false information.
And also steam decks also brick and overheat sd cards. Let be real here and point out the flaws, as the deck is not perfect. It black screens if you let it run out of battery and sometimes never recovers. You don’t see that issue on other handhelds.
Neither SD nor Ally are flawless, nobody claimed that and I’m not going to argue about technical details or individual user experiences here, but replies like this will definitely lead the discussion away from the original topic.
If I get it right, the OP‘s question was whether it makes sense to get an Ally if you already own a SD. In my opinion it’s a clear „No“. I’d rather consider selling the SD to get an SD Oled OR an Ally X afterwards.
