Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Hail Mary for a Hero here.
I know this is going to be very specific and the odds of finding an answer here are slim but everywhere else on the internet has been of no help.

I'm running Demon Souls PS3 on the RPCS3 emulator. Works as well as you'd imagine, except for 1 issue that I can't solve. The audio is stuttering, like the sounds repeat themselves over the course of a few seconds. Running, attacking, the ambience, it stutters and jitters. There's also random popping as well but those seem to be manageable. It's just the audio stuttering that will not go away no matter what I do.

I looked everywhere. It seemed like everyone had a different answer and not one solved this issue. Problem is, I guess playing DS on an emulator on the steam deck is the nichest of niche so most are sharing info from regular desktops.

What infuriates me the most us that I had it working like a month ago, and now it's back to stuttering despite not changing any settings. I haven't touched the game since the last time. I still had light popping, but the stuttering was gone and I was a happy human.

I'm asking for anyone here who has played Demon Souls without these audio issues on the Steam Deck to perhaps post screencaps of their settings they made in RCPS3, because I am at my whits end here.

I already tried:
-Checking on/off Enable SPU loop detection.
-changing the preferred SPU threads to every number from 1 to 6, and leaving it at auto.
-enabled buffering to 50 ms
-enabled Time stretching (despite no one saying what % I should set it to, guess I just had to pull a % out of my ass, thanks reddit)
-put the SPURS threads to 3

None of these work. Please do not link me any reddit threads as they are beyond useless whenever I need an answer from something.

Unfortunately he was the first choice to go to when I was having issues. Followed his settings to a T and the audio issues persist, despite him having no issues from what I could tell

Most likely is due to the refresh rate / frame rate. Double check in your Steam … settings that the frame rate limit & refresh rate limit hasn’t been reverted as they’ve changed it a couple times in the last few patches.

Create a Steam override profile for the game (or the emulator depending on how you’re launching the game) and set it to 60Hz/60fps

Edit: and if that doesn’t work try dropping to to 30hz/30fps
