steam deck plus portable monitor, so convenient
Guys, I've using my deck since it was released. I don't use it every day, and I'm not particularly dependent on it, but as someone who doesn't own a laptop, I find it really convenient to carry it around. I bought a portable monitor with a keyboard [changingtouch.com] that allows me to use it as a laptop in an emergency. I admire my imagination. I also bought a lightweight mouse [steelseries.com] to play Call of Duty directly with my deck, which you should all try because it's really cool!

Hybrid devices are awesome. Good luck creating a nice UX. Floating window managers are terrible.

window managers are terrible?

It seems to me that steam deck Linux for office use seems to be quite good, as if the recommended X-monitor also comes with a keyboard and touchpad??

There are two major window manager paradigms: floating and tiling.

Floating is pretty much awful because you will always need a mouse. I guess Gnome realize their mistake when they attempted to make Gnome shell touch friendly.

I haven't found a suitable extension display yet. Does deck have such a bad experience to use? It looks like a Linux???? to me If that's so bad, can deck run windows? Like ally?

Windows have the same problem. Linux and Windows are chasing the acceptable Hybrid UX.

Neither OS got it but I believe Windows may be ahead. They are both are not there yet.

Everything you buy today are compromises.

Studio dial looks cool. Good luck on deciding your workflow.

You can use it as a Linux Desktop if you like. There are some limitations as compared to the "other" distro of Linux. SteamOS is built for the main purpose of playing games. The OS is by default, locked down. For those that are power Linux users, this hampers them from doing things they can do with other distros.

That being said, if you use it within the way it was designed, you won't have any issues.

As far as the Deck running Windows, Valve does not prioritize Windows drivers for the Deck. While you might get it to work, it won't be a flawless experience as Valve never truly intends on supporting Windows fully. SteamOS is their OS and that's where their focus is..

Isn't Studio dial only available with surface, and it seems that the touch screen is needed to watch videos, and I think the changingtouch product 心途 recommended doesn't have touch? I don't think this is gonna work. But I look at the changingtouch product, with a keyboard and sd card expansion, seems to be quite good.

In my opinion, the most convenient aspect of my setup is that I can use the deck to play FPS games.:steammocking:
