mods from within steam will work without issues.
mods from outside steam should work too, but require a little more fiddling because of different install locations and launch methods.
It depends on the game. If a game uses the Steam Workshop, it should automatically sync mods.
If a game uses a third party mod publisher (like how Deep Rock Galactic uses Nexus mods), it's up to the mod platform to support Deck and the game devs to auto sync (for the most part, if a game can automatically sync games on Windows machines, it usually works with the Deck too).
If you need to use a modloader/launcher like the FTB App or Overwolf, you'll probably miss out on mods on Deck, but thankfully, most games on Steam don't use this.

hence me not caring about that lol, im considering getting it cuz i want it. only brought up hype cuz now its hard to find new info about it
okay, that all makes sense, thank you. i had a feeling i was right but it's so hard finding information about the steamdeck now. at least for me, everything i find is outdated and about when it first came out
i'll look more into the mod thing, i have a few games that the mods are filed inside steam but a few that just use separate mod managers/nexus.
I've heard you can remotely stream from your gaming computer through your steamdeck. If you play that way rather than downloading a fresh install to the deck, do the mods on your computer carry over to the streamed game? I would think so since the computer is providing the processing right?
It works extremely well. But as I've told people, it's not plug and play, and will require setup and troubleshooting. If you like to tinker, then you'll be right at home.
It works but personally I'm not a fan of regularly playing games this way. All game streaming is done with x265 compression. It looks good and it's responsive, but you're always looking at a noticeably compressed video/image. Some people can't tell the difference. Some people can tell the difference but don't care.
I'm never in a position where I have WiFi 6 network access to my PC but unable to simply just...use my PC.
