Dual Boot Linux Mint
Hello all,

I'm attempting to dual boot my steam deck with Mint was wondering if anyone knew of any good guides to editing the boot manager?

I've spent most of the day trying different things. Google and YouTube are useless - they aggressively push windows dual boot which is a lot easier.

The problem is that Mint can indeed search and find all bootable os's but breaks the steam deck booting in the process.

I'm in need of a guide to edit the boot loader after both os's are installed but resources for Mint are much more limited than windows sadly...

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated, thank you
Dan

Just buy a fast A2 class SD card and install mint into it

How would that help with the boot manager problem though? Surely it doesn't make a difference whether its installed in a different partition or different drive? cheers

you don't change anything in the SSD and let UEFI boot the SD card. SSD remains unchanged. Works well for me.

Ok, I guess I can give it a go. I currently have a 1tb SD card with 600+GB of ROMs. I could partition those off and install Mint on the first partition. Thanks, I'll post how it goes

I don't know if mint has such settings, but try to select installing only to the card. sometimes things like bootloader still go elsewhere, like SSD. I believe oopensuse, which I used for my SD card install, does ask where yo put the bootloader, but that was a while ago and I might be misremembering things.
