Long button press combined with start press.. Is it possible?
I would like to long button press a key to trigger the H key on the keyboard, just once, regardless if it's still held down or not... So the end result is basically a start press that is triggered after holding down a key for specific milliseconds. With the current long press set up, the H key is entered multiple times.. Which I do not want. Is this possible? I've looked everywhere, doesn't seem like it exists.

You can do it with an action layer.

1. Long press apply layer
2. On layer, start press H key
3. On layer, release press remove layer

Omg you are a genius, it works!! Thanks a lot dude. This actually is a game changer for me, I went back and used this on all of my previous layouts.

Here's a new one I'm stuck on:

On my default action set, left trackpad is set as "touch menu 1". Using L5, I want to change left trackpad to "touch menu 2"...which I got working fine. I want to be able to press a button on touch menu 2, and when I touch that same button again it goes back to "touch menu 1" automatically...any ideas?

In this situation i think it would be easier to have touch menu 1 on the left pad and then create a mode shift for touch menu 2 with L5 as the button that activates the mode shift.

If you wanted to do it on the touch menu, you can still do that, but it's more complicated and there are multiple bugs you have to work around. Normally I would say you could use a layer with that has a touch menu with the command you want, then a sub command that it would cycle in order to remove the layer. The problem is this will only work the first time you do it. There is a bug when cycling commands in a layer that will prevent the cycle from working as it should. It turbos the last command instead of cycling through them one by one.

You could do a 2nd layer, but that can introduce a bug where the touch menu doesn't show up on a layer change. There is also a bug where the touch menus switch to inherited each time you go back to the configuration screen. So you have to make sure you have the correct virtual menu set up each time you come back to the configuration screen.

But there is a way you can still do it is with an action set. From the default set, have L5 change to a 2nd action set. Then on the 2nd set touch menu, add the button you want. Add an extra command to the that button. For the extra command, do release press apply an action layer. Be sure to add this layer to the 2nd set.

On the 2nd set action layer, you can do a touch menu release press to change to the default set. That will bring you back to your original touch menu.

Now I should warn you that you could run into a couple more bugs when setting this up. Sometimes when you're trying to change action sets, it's not listed under the drop down menu. So you have to back out and try again for it to work. Another bug will sometimes prevent you from adding an extra command. Again, back out and try again.

Basically, it will work eventually, but it takes perseverance from your part in fighting multiple bugs to set it up correctly.

Well that explains a lot. I ran into this before and I double and triple checked and was pulling my hair out. Thanks for telling me I wasn't insane.

Mode shift... Never tried it before. From what I am reading, it sounds like it works while holding it down... Isn't this the exact same feature as "hold action set layer" command? Is MS better?
