There was nothing "edgy" about it, no need to reflect. They may do it or they may not, based on how much time has passed and the fact that they are not really obligated to. Wouldn't be the first time they dropped plans either.

I believe Valve intends to release OLED drivers, but it's hard.

Valve brought custom parts as cheaply as they can. Cheap and custom does not imply Windows support out of the box. They already admitted they cannot enable HDR on Windows due to the MIPI connector.

Yeah... No, on their official page for windows drivers it says "Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Audio drivers for Windows on Steam Deck OLED are currently being worked on, and will be available soon." So basically "They may do it, may not" is not an option, so try not being so edgy when stating your own, personal, wrong opinions.

I believe you don't understand what obligated means. If they said they will do it, then they most certainly are obligated to do it. I do agree that a lot of time has passed and it wouldn't be the first time they dropped plans, but if they do so, steam deck users have every right to be upset and voice their opinions on the matter.
Basically its not a matter of "they don't have to" anymore - they do. If they decide not to they surely will face a decent level of backlash for it and it will be well deserved.

I do agree but... you could have taken a look at the OG steam deck, which had a pretty bad driver support as well. It should have been clear that Valve does not care about their windows users, what made you think the oled would be different?

That's Valve for you. They've been less-than-stellar in regards to the Steam Deck and their promises.

They never promised Windows support though.

If you want to install it on the deck and something doesn't work that's on you.

Why are you extrapolating they don't care about their Windows users? They probably care. Software is just difficult......

We have a pretty old problem. Windows like any OS needs constant updates because applications will not work with out them....

I also feel a bit baited and fooled. I've also been waiting for months for the missing Steam Deck OLED Windows 10+11 drivers. I bought the Steam Desk OLED mainly because of Windows. I've been running Windows 10 in dual boot for 3 months and so far it's working fine. Even the alternative Qualcomm WIFI drivers work well. What is so difficult to provide Bluetooth and audio drivers? The Steam OS (Linux) handling with Windows emulation is annoying. I want to be able to start non-Steam games easily. I should have saved a bit more money and got the ASUS ROG ALLY. But I let Steam blind me with the OLED display.

people are seriously simps or simple minded. steamos is great, amazing but not perfect it cant run anything with anti cheat. me personally i like to have one device to rule them all. yea being able to run steamos then booting into windows to run cod ect then running emu's for og games. thats cool and adds ton of value to the steamdeck, i dont like sheep who say that if u wanted a windows device u should of bought one when the steamdeck hardware supports windows but steamos does not support games with anti cheat. heres a suggestion for valve simps how about valve dosent work on windows support and incorporate anti cheat support into steamos..........if not stfu and give us windows drivers literally 3 of them.

They have for some (not all) Anti-Cheat software.... Unfortunately, it still requires the devs to support it and those devs won't. You can lead a horse to water, yada yada...

I bought 5 steam decks OLED for kids from my family and told them they could soon install windows for school as I did on my LCD Steam Deck. I'd really appreciate a release date for the drivers.

Unless the school requires specific Windows only software, there's not that much reason to actually run Windows for school. KDE is similar enough to the competent versions of Windows that the learning curve isn't that steep, and there's MS Office equivalents that work really well.
