Are you doing Steam + X when on an input field (i.e. the cursor is available in the input field)?

Do you have the steam client open?

Close the steam client, i also have this occasionally in steam desktop.

Wish they would have fixed this by now.

If you hold the "start" button down in desktop mode < the one with the three horizontal lines > and it'll toggle between keyboard/mouse mode, and controller mode.

I'd bet you accidentally toggled it at some point. Hope it helps.

Not always, although this might sometimes get the virtual keyboad to work again, sometimes it's just completely gone until you log in to the desktop session again.

Yea. I think offline mode is a borked. I believe I might hit this bug today.

This bug happens when the steam client have issues connecting to the steam server. If you turn off your wifi or see an incomplete login which shows the ?. On screen keyboard doesn't appear.

I am running regular Linux right now for this issue.

Steam Beta Branch: Stable Client Steam Version: 1714854927 Steam Client Build Date: Fri, May 3 4:11 PM UTC -08:00 Steam Web Build Date: Sat, May 4 1:14 PM UTC -08:00 Steam API Version: SteamClient021

I think it might be related to issues with Steam Client fallback.

Edit: I tried turning wifi on and off very quick and the fallback worked. I am not sure how to trigger this bug other than have a network that will not let you access steam servers.
