Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Inputs Very Messed Up
Was playing the Deck fine this morning, nothing unusual whatsoever, plugged it in and took a shower. Fast forward maybe 20 minutes, picked it up and suddenly I have crazy stick drift on the Left Analog.

Not only that, the Steam and ... buttons are acting very strange. I did some testing and somehow the Steam button is causing the system to interpret continuous "up" joystick input. Disconnecting both the left stick AND the Steam button doesn't stop the flow of inputs. I'm also getting a ton of lag on startup... I've been looking through guides for quite a while and have tried things like switching to the default start movie and such, no luck whatsoever.

You’re gonna need to put in a support ticket and possibly an RMA.

Settings -> Controller -> Calibration and Advanced Settings
Increase Joystick Deadzones

Valve made a change to the slider for the deadzones. It's now smaller at 2000, which can cause drift. A lot of configurations have the deadzone source set to controller preference, which uses this calibrated value. That's why you're getting drift.

Increase the slider and that should fix the problem.
