Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Games not fully verified
Anyone know if any of the games that only say playable recognize the steam deck own controls? I dont own a keyboard and mouse and thinking of getting fallout 3 and dragon age origins next but since they are not verified wondering whether the controls will even work.

I play exclusively on a Steam Deck & I've noticed that the majority of unverified games still work quite well on the Deck (esp if you use a wireless bluetooth controller and/or learn how to use the manual controller setup for any given game).

Dragon age will not work with the controller without heavy modifications. There is a custom layout for it but it’s not an ideal solution as it’s just mimicking mouse controls and uses the touch sensors built into the analogs. It honestly sucks.

But to better answer the main question, yes most games will recognize the steam decks controller and be used as normal without unnecessary reconfiguration.

If a game has controller support it will work fine with the Deck's controls- it just shows up as an Xbox controller. If not then yea you are probably going to have to mess with a custom layout/key mapping or using the thrackpad as mouse etc.

I can confirm Fallout 3 plays just fine, not sure if DragonAge Origins has controller support.

Fallout 3 runs perfectly, almost like it was made for the Deck. I've got a few mods installed and I'm having a good time.

Dragon Age is playable, but is harder since it's not built around a controller. You can use one of the custom community layouts though, and it's not bad since you can pause whenever you want.
