Battery Drain in Sleep Mode
Something seems to be draining my Steam Deck’s battery while in Sleep Mode.

I’d lose upwards of 30-40% in 5 hours.

Have reformatted by Micro SD and Steam Deck. Also testing turning off wifi and bluetooth. Are there anything else I could test? Perhaps a way to see what’s happening on Desktop Mode?

Its been happening for over a month now and I’ve scoured Reddit for answers but there aren’t any.

Update: If you're experiencing this issue, I'd encourage getting in touch with Valve Steam Deck support to review the device. They were able to issue a full replacement for me. This is some sort of hardware issue beyond any fix.

If you suspend it while playing a game, keeping this software in hibernation will drain the battery.

Only way to slow this down would be to switch the deck off.

keeping ram powered does not consume the entire battery in 12 hours lmao

How do I reduce RAM use in Sleep?

Contact Valve support.

I feel like i've had the deck drain a decent amount when completely off, not even in sleep or suspended game mode.. anyone else?

I get the same problem only in the last few weeks

I always thought that was normal. My decks will lose 30% of their battery overnight, if left in sleep mode. I just shut it down instead. Never knew it wasn’t supposed to do that.

Thought I'd share an update on my grief here.

If you're experiencing this on your Steam Deck, get in touch with Valve to do a troubleshoot. Unfortunately my Deck was certified faulty and they've offered to issue a hardware replacement.

The annoying part for me is just getting it shipped back here to Australia.

to give you an idea of what it should lose, my deck will use about 7-9% battery per day when in sleep

I'm glad I found this topic, I have the same massive drain (30+% overnight when suspended). I swore I originally saw minimal battery loss, but then thought I'd just imagined it. Hopefully they can help as this has gone on a long time for me (though I'm just noticing it's not right ~1yr after purchase)
I experience a drain of around 10% per day when in sleep mode. Not sure why some people here are getting way more.
I would contact Valve.
Mine (OLED) drains around 20% per day. Which is still too much, it can be easily zeroed if left over a weekend. But finally I made hibernation (and thus suspend-then-hibernate) work. Check out my guide: https://github.com/nazar256/publications/blob/main/guides/steam-deck-hibernation.md

Wonder if Valve could roll this out in a system update altogether. I feel like my battery issue stems from software and not hardware.
