Help me setup HDMI Dummy Plug
Hello, I just got my steamdeck and dock with HDMI dummy plug.

How do I set up this?

I want it to output 1440p 120hz to the dummy plug, so my sunshine streaming server can send a stream of Deck's desktop to my main PC.

I found a guide online telling me to use Xrandr to add mode and then set it to hdmi-1 output. I tried to follow the guide, but it was unsuccessful. My deck defaults to its 1080p 60hz default resolution, dictated by Edid of that dummy plug. If I set 1440p ress via KDE's settings, I get an error telling me it was not successful, and it immediately reverts to 1080p.

I will try to follow up below with the logs and xrandr output when I figure out how to post it here.

If you’re using the steam deck dock, make sure it’s updated.
And make sure you HDMI cable is up to the specifications your after too.

you can setup a custom edid profile on an output with a Linux boot option on grub or whatever does the deck use, however with the readonly nature of steamOS it might be easier to get a better dummy plug. also, you could install a different Linux distro if you won't be using the deck portably anymore.

Why not getting a dummy plug with the right EDID profile?
