So many fake cards, even from supposed official resellers.
9 put of 10 batteries sold on Amazon where found to be fake.
SD cards are not that different.
That is the link to the card I bought and I have also attached the confirmation of my order of the site. It cost me around £180.
I get theirs loads of fakes out their on amazon and ebay hence I went for that site. Waiting for their reply the sellers to see what they have to say such a shame as iv heard many people buy cards from legit shops and its happening to them so annoying as the steam deck was amazing for me when the card was working but its just made me weary to put another card in there.
but if it does il get a refund and then probably buy from argos a 512gb Samsung Pro if that fails il just get a gaming laptop and just use steam deck for sole hand held emulation gutted as the steam deck is amazing device especially if the sd card wasn't such a common issue.
500GB Samsung Pro’s with USB adaptor, are often in the sales at Amazon.
That’s what I got and where from.
For me it sometimes happened before, but it was especially after an hard reset system, who basically force the steam deck to restart the entire system because, sometimes an issue with a program have overheated the system (CPU,GPU or the RAM). So yes, like I said, after the forced reset of the console, my SD card sometimes seemed to no longer being able to be detected again, after I understood why all my game wasn't any longer downloaded, I've seen an SD card icon at the upper right of my screen after I clicked on it, the system asked me if I wished to boot this sd card who in reality was already booted but no longer seem to be synced to my console!?
So, I've hesitated I little bit before choosing to not reboot my sd card back. So afterward, I chosed to cancel this box of dialogue, and wanted to teste something before truely reboot my sd card again.
Anyway, like I estimated what could possibly happened, for the system to no longer recognize my sd card immediately after an hard reboot of the system, I tried to simply, unplug my sd card from the console than, replug it in so, maybe it could potentially resolve the problem that have happened.
Afterward, it somehow seemed to have work for me each time my sd card was no longer recognized by the system.
In conclusion, try this method before truely reboot your SD card and lost all your data installed on it. Because maybe it simply no longer synchronized with the system anymore.
That, also why I'm still likely hesitating about the fact of should I buy a new SD card rather than an hard-drive, because basically it doesn't matter if you unplug your SD card any time you wants, of curse, I think if you do it while you are actually using a program that is actually installed on your sd card than it will maybe result afterward in a crash of the game or if it not fully optimized, maybe in a crash of your system, resulting to restart your steam deck entirely. But yes, other wise it doesn't matter if you disconnect your sd card anytime, because they are still kept saved in this specific external storage device.
So yes, because of that, I'm thinking about using only multiple sd card as an external storage device would be mutch better than using an hard-drive divice when traveling any where else. Anyway, like I said, because of the fact that an sd card are supported by almost any electronic device today, I would simply use this other sd card like Nintendo switch cartridges for having access my entire steam library no matter where I go.
Any way, to resume you issue you've have encountered, yiu simply need to disconnect your sd card from the console, than re-plug it in its for normally be able to reasyncronise it with the console. If it doesn't work either, then try restart to console again and try it again to see if it worked this time. Otherwise if it still haven't worked either, then sorry but I don't know what the problem then.
The company I bought from are going to replace the card but don't have a great refund policy. I think the hard resets do definitely play a role maybe in losing data and sd card fails it has put me off the steam deck as it will always keep me paranoid whether to download and play games that are not approved with a green tick like will they always crash forcing me to button reset so it's definitely risky I feel.
The annoying thing is the card can't be formatted to many times on the deck from reading many reddits after the first format the card may not be usable again in the deck if it fails but can be saved for other devices a shame as I bought 1tb just for the deck I think internal is probably the way to go if this new sd card fails it will put me off using the deck to play the main big games I liked playing forza horizon 4, doom eternal ,gta5, witcher 3 and the resident evil games I will prob just use it for emulation and probably get a gaming laptop for when I have enough.
Hopefully it's had a update patch and valve looks into the deck and sd card issue more thoroughly and it's all been fixed out.

SD card quality has been going down as flash capacity goes up.
That would actually be a great idea if steam did sd cards that are solely built for the steam deck that way they probably could regulate the cards with the updates alot better and maybe less risk of them bricking. I would of bought the valve sd card if it came with more compatibility and less risk of losing and data and the stress free headache that it may never need to be formated and would of been plug and play that is prob a thing they could look into as well as more friendly updates if that could be q thing. The amount of sd cards iv heard that have been bricked in the steam deck is gutting as its a great device in my opinion that's been the only fault that they haven't fixed even with the newer model iv heard its happening.
SD cards are like SSD. They cannot be scale down. SD cards store voltages. Depending how hi or low the voltage determines whether the card is 1 or 0.
The problem is that they hit the limit over 10 years ago. The samsung 840 evo ssd exhibit drift after leaving data after awhile. Vnand help scale it bit but you cannot make flash cells smaller without making it crappy.

Regular OS workloads are hell for many sd cards. SD cards are just a dumping ground for bad flash. Storing images is much easier than dealing with regular OS workloads.
FWIW, I was one of the early waitlist purchasers and got my first Deck in the beginning of the Q2 shipments. I immediately started using a 512gb SanDisk Extreme card. I eventually purchased a 2nd card of the same and swapped them back an forth in my LCD Deck. I did that for about a year and a half until the OLED version came out and had zero problems with the cards or swapping them. I'm now using a SanDisk Ultra 1.5tb card on my OLED with zero issues.
We don't have a tech media that evaluate storage devices properly. It is always these random benchmarks that all storage even bad ones can pass with flying colors.
We cannot compare your experience with the OP because these cards are sold worldwide. Different vendors might have different supply unless batch numbers matches.
