Steam deck factory reset messed up my SSD storage
hello, I have a Steam deck that is 64GB, and has been upgraded to 1TB SSD, it was working fine but after I reset the Steam deck to wipe my user data it no longer showed up under storage or seems to be only 78gb?. I can't find any info online about this

It does not show on Steam OS but it shows when I boot into desktop i see it there, any help please??
it is a SN740 and it shows up in BIOS with size and all. just not in Steam OS it says 78GB is able. I'm so confused. it also had a dual boot with windows installed and maybe that's why its messed up. see pictures

If you don't know what you are doing with Linux the easiest way to resolve it imo would be to reflash it to a clean normal SteamOS install.

I'd recommend using Balena Etcher regardless if you are using Windows as it is now cross-platform and people seem to have issues with getting Rufus to flash the recovery image to a USB drive correctly.

You will need:

  • Balena Etcher[etcher.balena.io]
  • A USB Flash Drive (UFD) that is at least 32GB
  • A USB-A to USB-C adapter if your UFD isn't USB type C
  • A computer to install Etcher on and create the UFD

Then follow those instructions to Wipe & Reinstall Steam OS.

yeah re-image Steam Deck is going to completely wipe it and recreate the partitions, filesystems, etc. and then extract the OS image to those filesystems.

You should end up with 8 partitions (you currently have 10) and you should see the duplicate ones for boot, var, and such as that is how it fails-back when doing updates if something breaks during installation.
