Steam Deck OLED 1TB - First boot battery health 99%
Hello, just received a Steam Deck OLED 1tb today after a rma process. I turned it on and checked the battery health and it s 99%. The steam deck oled is brand new. Any suggestions or help how to recalibrate or fix this issue?? Thank you

it's not an "issue", it's just a guess by the chip that oversees the battery. some decks ship with a chip that is very confident and shows 100% for half a year, some chips are paranoid and show lower number almost immediately. It's a meaningless number that has low accuracy. A brand new battery will be above 100% capacity anyways.

My capacity is under 50wh after first turn on. it seems like the new steam deck oled battery has some issue again. So it s not just the number of the battery health

well the capacity percentage is basically "assumed capacity/50 Wh". Without taking the deck apart and discharging the battery thru an electronic load you won't know the real capacity.

Well, I m waiting the assistant answer, it s the second deck oled with battery issue and I m little by disappointed about it. Hoping you can understand

Nothing compares to discovering an otherwise immaculately stored Amiga 500 has bricked itself via the battery leaking. After decades! Mind you

they will tell you to recalibrate it. which already proves that the number is made up nonsense.

Understood. How can I do a recalibration? However when I recevied the Steam deck today the box was little damage and the deck was really cold, so maybe the battery got a little damage about capacity I don’t know

Ultimately you are worrying about something that doesn't matter. Does your replacement deck look brand new? If so, then the battery is also brand new.
Recalibration is done to fix incorrect battery percentages, some people experience random shutdowns or other weird behavior, so they recalibrate the battery chip by performing a full discharge and a full charge afterwards.
You have warranty - if the battery suddenly starts going downhill, you can always contact valve. But it won't.

Ok, I will do a recalibration. Hoping it will fix the problem

There is no problem to fix. It is normal. Just use the Steam Deck normally for a few days going through regular charge cycles and it will calibrate itself.

My battery went from 100% to 94% and then slowly climbed after about a dozen cycles to 99% and stayed there for almost a year. It’s currently at 91% after a year and a half.

Basically don’t worry about it

ok thank you for the suggestion.

My LCD deck was at 99% health when I first received it but went to 100% after manually entering storage mode (then booting with power cord) the first time...

It's been there ever since.
