PSP games won't launch through game mode

Hello all!

So I have God of war gos and coo iso files in the sd card and emudeck can read it and all. It's all good. Now my emudeck also has ppsspp. So naturally I have both ppsspp and the two game titles on my game mode.

So both of the titles work through ppsspp. BUT they don't run straight off from game mode and I don't understand why. I don't think I did anything wrong. It's running fine through ppsspp so I don't think my settings are wrong. Not inside ppsspp Atleast.

So I was guessing maybe I screwed something up through emu deck. So I tried reinstalling ppsspp through emu deck and resetting configuration. But it still wouldn't work. Idk what I'm doing wrong.

What exactly I see is: when I run either of the god of wars, the green play button becomes a circle and says launching. Then I see the steam logo and the spinning loading thing for like a second or so. And then it goes back to the game title where I have to press the green play button.

Now I know I can launch it through ppsspp but that's not my issue. It's not literally unplayable, it's just more about convenience and my own curiosity. What did I do wrong? Do I force proton to run these or something? Do I tinker with something on emudeck? I tried restarting my deck too but there's no results. PS2 games run fine through steam deck so there's no reason for it not to run ppsspp. Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you all for your replies in advance!

I had this exact problem but with n64 games, what solved it for me was that I forgot to extract the game files, instead of leaving it as a zip or rar file I had to extract it. After that, all my games work with no issues, some games don’t need to be extracted/work fine as-is so maybe try that.

Also note: if you do end up extracting them, for me 2 of the same game would appear on game mode so make sure to remove the one that doesn’t work and keep the other.
