The problem is: are minimum requirements for modern games going to stagnate at a 1060 as the minimum requirement?
It has been the minimum for quite a while now, largely because of the crypto boom keeping 20 and 30 series cards out of peoples hands, combined with supply chain issues preventing them from being made in the first place. 40 series cards (and their AMD counterparts) are finally being produced at a rate that can saturate market demand. Unless handhelds can command enough market share, modern titles will march forward forever just out of reach.
Steam deck needed to be bulky
If developers take note and maintain steam deck compatibility until technology can catch up, then the next steam deck could have similar performance, but in a significantly better form factor. Or it might stay bulky and have performance on-par with a 3060, instead of a 1050.
Personally I would want them to go for performance over form factor atleast one more time, because 1080p@90 on medium-high settings is the sweet spot for most games on a hand-held device. beyond that you have significant diminishing returns. and current gen steam deck, although great cant quite hit that mark most of the time.
Gains while you game.
I think the Deck is more comfortable that the Switch, but I do feel better if I have something to rest my elbows on while I play. The Switch's tiny controls seem to have been designed for gnome hands, rather than actual human hands.
Unless you're sensitive to small weight differences to the point that you can pick up on 1/16 to 1/8 lb differences on devices around 1.5lb, it's not even really that noticeable of a change.
Whereas the Switches are around 300g, half the weight of the Ally. That is noticeable for the vast majority of people.
You've got large hands and it's too heavy? Yikes, a set of weights might do you good. ;)
Did you get that milk?
And was it GOATS milk?
