Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Anyway to zoom display / scale 16:9 720P to 16:10 800P?
In general having a great time with the Steam Deck. However I notice on the majority of the games I play there often are small borders on the top and bottom of the screen. This tends to occur with games made for the 16:9 aspect ratio (as most are) vs the 16:10 of the Steam Deck.

I suspect the borders are the difference between the 720P 16:9 game resolution and 800P 16:10 Steam Deck resolution. I know some games let you directly set 800P but a lot don't and even some that do don't fill the screen either. The 80 pixel border isn't huge but when working with a small 7-7.4" screen I really want games to use every bit of it, especially considering many PC games have pretty small fonts as they assume a huge monitor or TV.

Zoom options would be good in general to help with small text and other accessibility issues. However, I would personally really like to see a simple toggle for zooming 720P/16:9 content to the Steam Deck's 16:10 800P screen so games always run full screen. I know there might be a bit of content lost off the left/right and slight quality reduction but when playing on a handheld you want to be using every available inch IMHO.

Is there already a way of doing this e.g. a Decky Loader plug in? or else even controls in the existing Steam OS? or a more exotic solution. Surprised this isn't something Valve doesn't seem to have tackled yet, unless I'm missing something (entirely possible!)

Any help greatly appreciated.

With the QAM (...), go to the battery tab, down to scaling mode, set to "stretch"
