It seems like the older models are suspiciously suffering strokes. Mine bricked too.

Ouch -- but similar story: I had the black screen of death after owning a SD for two days. No "off-steam" installs -- just system updates and one game. Then the screen died. RMA. New one arrived today, and the "A" button doesn't work, straight out of the box.

Such poor product and yet people still defend it. I’m trying to find a buyer for mine so I can use the cash for a rog ally

I love it. It just stopped working while I drained the battery. IDK what happened. I was asleep. They build PC and sold it as console.

Way to many issues with it a lot related to the battery and the recent update caused way to many issues. Rog ally they build a pc and sold it as a console too. This isn’t the first option just the first one to make it popular.

Had this issue on my steam deck OLED after only a few days out of the box. Ran through every single fix I could find online, about half a dozen different ones, until finally everything seems to be working fine after I charged the battery to full and then left it on overnight to drain the battery until it shut off on it's own. booting afterwards brought me directly to the BIOS and hopefully it will continue to actually work.

Was a tense couple days - this problem is too common and the device is too expensive for me to be stressed about this or that excluding me from a full refund or replacement. Honestly I wouldn't recommend the steam deck to others despite fixing it, maybe that will change if I'm able to use it for awhile without more stress. Overall experience has been negative so far.

At this point can't blame ya. I'm remembering painfully the time I got hardballed on battlefield 2042 when I had <30 min minutes over the 2 hour refund limit. Never mind that there were tech issues I fixed and had only played for 15 minutes or that this steam account is like 2 decades old with thousands of dollars spent. The technicalities were against me but I prefer doing business in good faith, not to have legal disclaimers and agreements used against me.

That experience and me still being salty about it made having these steam deck issues so stressful.

I mean gothic 1 runs like a poo poo platter on this device and it’s an ancient game. But it runs flawlessly on the switch because those games are actually optimized. Steam deck was a great idea but in reality imo just has to many issues. Great idea bad execution.

Edit : thanks for the jester guys so many cool themes I can get with your kind donations keep ‘em coming.

I wish I knew this sooner. Also noone from support told me to do this. Now I will never know if it would help me or not.
Nice tip! Thank you.

So I asked what was the issue with my Steam Deck and how to avoid it (if it is possible) .
This is the response from help desk
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We're unable to provide a conclusion about the root cause of the issue without an examination at the repair center.

The unit inspection and replacement portions of the RMA process are handled at the repair center and no reporting is available on these processes.

If you need additional assistance with other unrelated issues please let us know.
