Steam Deck OLED Windows 11 Setup

As there seems to be no current topic, I start this one to gather recommendations and common issues about setting up windows 11 on the OLED Steam Deck (as all guides I found are missing some drivers or are incomplete).

My process of getting Windows 11 Running is as follows

- 1th step - install windows (as with lcd version, flash stick and so on, dual boot and main installation both worked with common lcd ways or as any system administrator would expect)
- 2nd step - fix missing wifi, for that step a usb-lan adapter, docking station or similar is needed.
-> Steam tells there are currently no wifi drivers and they are working on a solution, but as its a common qualcomm NFA765 controller you can simply use it from another source, like:

PAY ATTENTION: the website has a pretty extensive ads usage, tripple check the download link to avoid bloadware or malware.

- 3rd step - install missing drivers (now with an option to use wifi)

Base Drivers (Chipset, I2S (for audio connection), spi etc.):

I just recently did this and it’s working great. But I am having so much issue trying to download the latest APU update and get amd adrenaline software to actually work. Any ideas?

Audio works if you use external headphones.

Yeah Windows 11 default/built-in audio drivers work for the Nuvoton codec and headphone amp; but not the for the AD MAX chip powering the built-in speakers.

However, imo it isn't worth the effort to do this as it will get broken with updates and you'll need to take extra care in performing updates. It is much easier to put Windows on a microSD card and then just use the boot override menu button combination and selecting that as your boot device when wanting to use Windows; at least until Valve fully releases SteamOS3 and includes an installer process with a dual-boot wizard.

What I be able to use a micro sd card to run windows and install games onto the Steam decl internal ssd or would I need to install games into the micro sd card?

steam deck is a PC and you can install whatever you want, windows included. but there is no support for windows, valve only supports steamOS.

Anyone managed to get 60Hz working on Windows yet? I've got the 512GB OLED model, so assuming it's a Samsung panel. Only option in Windows 10 default display settings is 90Hz. Tried using CRU but when selecting the 60Hz mode I created, I just get a blank screen 😔

Edit: 60Hz working now. For anyone interested, I just copied all the timings manually from the default 90Hz setting in CRU.

I also bought this with the intention to use Windows. But I did my research and knew exactly what I was getting. The LCD version has all the drivers but this had audio drivers missing and no promised date for it. I still got it and I'm very happy with the result. Will wait for the audio to be fixed but headphones are perfectly fine in the mean time.
