remote play

How do I use the remote play function on my steam deck? Do i need to download the steam link onto it? would it even work if I tried that? Can I only use it for special occasions like specific games that let me remotely play it? Ive been trying to play on my computer from my steam deck where ever i am as long as i have internet access from both my computer and steam deck. Please help me with this problem

Go into your Settings then scroll down to Remote Play. Enable it.

Go into your Library on your Deck. Find the game that is installed on your PC that you want to stream. Open the Game page. On the page, you will see the "Install" button, but a little "down arrow" next to it. Click on the "down arrow" and it should have your PC name. Select your PC, and then the "Install" button will change to a "Stream" button.

ok, but what about just remotely playing on my computer through my steam deck, like not steam specific but through steam ya'know. you did answer my question though so thank you

Are you asking if you can play non steam games via steam link remote play? Or are you asking if you can play it outside of your home pc networks? Your original post and reply confuses me.

The Decky Loader plugin list seems down at the moment, but there used to be a "Stream Anything" plugin. You can also use Moonlight for streaming as well.

I’ve been able to play some non steam games with steam link remote play, had to edit shortcuts with executables. Sifu from epic games plays flawlessly, while Dead Island 2 was blocked by epic launcher. Also played some other games from different game launchers by simply having their launchers opened on my pc desktop, and adding them to steam as non steam games.

Many love moonlight but I found it to have significant delay vs steam link, while also having random artifacts during gameplay.

So YMMV.

Steamdeck Oled or LCD?
I tried remote play Moonlight Sunshine everyone After 5 min of Playtime i got low connection to pc
Idk if my steamdeck Oled can't follow the debitrate ?

Both lcd and oled. Moonlight was very finicky, whereas steam link worked right off the bat.
