Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Livestream directly to Twitch or YouTube
PlayStation and Xbox have livestream option integrated on OS. It's a really amazing feature on both consoles, starting a streaming on twitch with only a few clicks and tweaks.
I know that Steam Deck hasn't the absolute power to play AAA games and stream at higher resolution or bitrate but at 720p30 why not?
An integration of a plugin with a few options, enable mic or webcam, showing streaming status on screen, would be an awesome tool. A quick feature for those who want to livestream at a simplest way possible.

If you want to livestream your Desktop there are sure ways. But I doubt that the processing power will be enough to run a demanding game smooth while projecting and uploading it to a server at the same time.

Most streamers tend to a second device or one unit with a lot of processing power.

I'm aware of that. In theory, you can livestream, even playing demanding games, at 720p30.
Nevertheless, it would be a great challenge for SD.

I livestreamed leveling Dragonflight on my steam deck last year. I used a cheap amazon capture card and my desktop PC. (I do not use a second device from my desktop PC. The GPU does hardware encoding and the scene setup in OBS isn't intensive enough to have a big impact on game performance).

That said, OBS is available in the Discover store.

I tried in desktop mode and worked fine. But in gaming mode, it stays black.

I would like a dedicated option in the side menu of my Steam Deck to stream my gameplay live to Twitch and/or YouTube through something like ffmpeg or OBS. Right now, I run OBS using the following guide https://gist.github.com/rondhi/f9163e7649aa734b5421a8f58bd6c49e?permalink_comment_id=4653330#gistcomment-4653330). However, I would love a dedicated start and stop stream button in the side menu, with options to turn on/off video and mic, as well as view live stream chat through some integration. I have ideas on how to do this, and would love to work with the Steam Deck team to make this a possible feature for live streamers. Until then, I'll continue to use my workaround.
