Undetermined. Could be a very long time.
I bought the OLED with dual booting Windows in mind. While I do love a lot of the features on SteamOS. There is a game I want to play that only runs perfectly on Windows and I just so happen to want to play it the most. More than my steam library.
I also know that there are unofficial ways to dual boot on the Deck but I would prefer to officially dual boot.
This situation makes me question my purchase.
As for setting it up all nice and pretty on the internal drive instead, Microsoft doesn't support making a dual-boot system. That's up to you, so it's a little strange how the expectation from everyone is that Linux must always bend over backwards to accommodate Windows in some manner, but the obverse is not true.
Valve does not announce when they are delivering them. They just pop up and then there is an announcement. With that, you are correct they could come tomorrow, next month or even later. We won't know until it happens.
Any alternatives out there though for any audio drivers please?
Other PC Handheld Manufacturer that ship with Windows never release a proper Linux driver, you need to figure out how to make them work.
You should be glad that Valve is going the extra mile to deliver Windows drivers :)
If windows was so important for you why did you buy a Linux handheld?
There are so many options out there that come with Windows by default...
I bought it because this community hyped it up all around the internet and I wanted to give it a chance to see if it could fit my use case, plus the marketing promises by Valve themselves which is how I ended up coming to this thread.
*I’m also no longer waiting on Valve to officially support dual booting Windows on the SD.
For the wifi driver, you can use any qualcomm atheros chipset drivers, for example > https://oemdrivers.com/network-qualcomm-qcnfa765
Bluetooth still no go unfortunately. But these are basic components I'm quite sure these problems will be solved. But as you said if windows is your first priority I advise you to go back other devices, you will be happier.
When I bought deck oled, with same a mount of money i can also buy rog ally which is more powerful device. Also I'm quite sure you can run linux from microsd if you want in ally too. But None of the games I wanted to play needed too much compute power, and oled screen is much better than other handheld devices IMHO. Plus deck community is awesome, its broaden possibilities of the deck which i'm grateful... but again this is a handheld 'gaming' device in that regard others also doing fine. There is no perfect device for everyone or anyone... you have to compromise thats the reality of our lifes isnt int (:
